Facilities

We have great support from our machine shop, run by famous Pat Harkins!!
We have the following equipment in the lab (listed below). New instruments are continuously built or purchased. We have
full capability for rheological measurement and fabricating of microfluidic devices using soft lithography techniques. Digital
video equipment includes a Canon-XL1S digital camcorder, high-resolution still cameras, CCD sets and access to a high-speed digital video
camera.
Misc. equipment includes a KSV Tensiometer, Photron high speed camera, Two granualr flow apparatus, access to AFM, SEM, TEM.
Equipment:

Regular, brightfield Leica DM IRB inverted microscope
with online frame grabbing and particle tracking software.

We have the capacity to help you with rheological testing of given samples.
Samples we have tested to update include biofluids, polymers, organic
samples from local companies and labs at local Universities. Due to limited
manpower and expensive maintainence, we charge $150 per sample, starting
Oct. 2004. The average time of obtaining results will be 3-4 weeks afer
you drop off your sample. For regular users (i.e. those labs on campus),
we charge $1500 per year for unlimited access, with requirement of taking
3 hours training session at the beginning.
