Region V Representative Larry Brase
The major topic of the telecon was the upcoming
student conference. Planning for the conference is going well. More judges are
needed. So far we have only one technical judge from outside Boeing. So far we
have received 21 papers. We are expecting form more from Region IV, pending a
decision from National on how they should be handled. There will be two morning
and one afternoon paper sessions on April 18th, and one morning
session on April 19th. We need audio judges for the April 18th
sessions. A tour of the Boeing facilities for the conference attendees will not
be possible because of security issues.
There will be a Region V meeting on the Saturday
following the conference at the Best Western Inn on Lindell Blvd.
The section will be contacted about support of the
Region V history project.
· Committee Reports:
Arrangements Walt Reschke
The April dinner meeting will be held on Thursday,
April 18th, at St. Louis University in conjunction with the student
conference. A reception will begin at 6 PM in the rotunda of McDonnell Douglas
Hall. Dinner will begin at 7:45 PM. Boeing will pay for the reception and subsidize
the dinners for students. Representative Todd Aken will speak at the dinner. A
public address system is the only special equipment needed. Jim Talent may be
available as a backup, according to Bill LaManna. Larry Brase noted that we now
have five people designated for the head table. No Boeing Vice Presidents will
be attending. Boeing public relations personnel will attend to assist. All
costs will be paid the night of the dinner.
The May meeting will be the annual awards dinner. Tentative
speaker is Dave Spong. Post-meeting
update: The meeting will be held at the Airport Marriott on 23 May.
