NEW BUSINESS

·        Potential Programs for 2002-03

1) INCOSE has expressed interest in a follow-on to last year's successful co-sponsored meeting. Bill Bezdek is the INCOSE point of contact.

2) An "Outing Night" instead of a speaker should be considered. Possible events include: excursion boat, an evening at the Arch, attending a performance of the Histrionics Players(sp?) at the History Museum.

3) We should consider connections with Science Center programs and the Experimental Aircraft Associations "Young Eagles" program.

4) Steve Fossett should be invited to a section meeting to speak of his recent record-setting solo balloon flight.

·        Reinvigoration of Technical Specialists Meetings

Reinvigorating technical specialist meetings would provide a means of attracting younger members. We need to get the Technical Fellows and Associate Fellows involved in this, and work with the Education committee. Boeing senior managers could be asked to provide a brief keynote address and introductions. We need direct contact with company executives to solicit their support.

·        Fellow Memberships

Of the 190 members of the Boeing Fellowship, only 40 are AIAA members. Rudy Yurkovich sent out invitations for AIAA membership to the other 140. Boeing will pay for memberships in one professional organizations for Associate Technical Fellows, two memberships for Technical Fellows, and for three memberships for Senior Technical Fellows.

·        Recent AIAA Conference in St. Louis

Boeing made available a 40-person block of registrations to employees.

·        AIAA Technical Committee Nominations

Nominations for committee membership are now open.

·        Meeting Call-In Number

Mike McCoy will pursue Andy Hesketh's plan for  a call-in number for future council meetings so that people on the road can participate.  We will need to add a speaker phone in the meeting room.

·       Next Meeting is 5 August 2002 at 4:30 p.m.

Walt moved to adjourn at 5:40 p.m.,  Bob 2nd, passed.
