AIAA St. Louis
Section
Council Meeting
Notes
5 November 2001
No official meeting was held due to the lack of a
quorum. The discussions among the members present are summarized below.
· Treasurer’s Report – Karen Copper
Changes since the last report reflect interest
earned on savings and awards and rebates from AIAA National. The rebate was
$3002.50 for the Liberty Bell 7 program. The section award was for $700. We are
in need of programs for the coming year.
·
Pre-College Outreach
We are collecting the email
addresses of the school systems in the area to have a work-around to the
possible delays in the U.S. Mail due to terrorist activity.
No calls have been received
from registrants for the teacher's program with Historic Aircraft Preservation
this Saturday. We have $200 budgeted for this event. The school system of the
Archdiocese of St. Louis was NOT contacted. We should consider using the
Guinness paper airplane contest as an alternate venue for this program.
·
Newsletter
Next issue will be out this
month. Need material for the issue. We must publish if we are to realize the ad
revenue.
·
Young Professional Award
Collecting nominees for the
award. Have some already. Need to maintain nomination quality to ensure future
Sperry Award win..
·
Pilot Education
The security issues with
Boeing are being worked. We can't charge for the event. There are two other
sponsors: the FAA and the St. Louis Flight Instructors Association, who provide
the program. Our traditional role is to provide the facility. This has been the arrangement for 27 years.
· Next Meeting is 3 December 2001
Respectfully submitted,
Bob Dowgwillo
St. Louis Section Secretary
